Growth Opportunity

An ordinary flower and broken baby bird shells are signs of new birth, new life, time to begin again.

God is communicating something through the sights, smells, and sounds of spring.

He wants us to know about His unending Faith, Hope, and Love.

Ponder with me...

How long does the Dogwood look dead during the winter, yet in the branches still courses sap storing up energy to put forth blooms in season?

How long does the mother Robin wait before she lays her eggs; then waits again, patiently hovering over them until they hatch?

How long does the bloom within strain against the hard bud's exterior?

How long does the baby bird struggle against the fragile, shell membrane?

He is always doing something, even when we don't see it with our eyes.  Despite what our senses can perceive, He is at work creating a new thing.  Maybe you are in a winter season, desperately anticipating spring.  If you are waiting in faith for something to change, believe in Him.  What looks dead and lifeless right now, God is working just can't see it.  Spring is coming because it always follows the winter.  That is the order of things.  It's coming.

Just. Hold.  On.

The fragrant flower...the song-full baby bird...  We know they are in there.  We have faith that the membranes will break and new life will be birthed.  We observe these miracles each Spring we have the opportunity to witness. We expectantly hope for the sight, smell, and sound of them as evidence  that we were not crazy for having faith.

But...Why have faith? Why have hope? What is the God trying to tell us over and over again each Spring? It is as if something is written in the patterns of His creation.

The Dogwood flower's pink-tinged petals resemble the cross.  Pink graces the delicate leaves right in the spot of Jesus' wounds.  The crown of thorns, the spikes in both wrists, the spike through His ankles.  What kept an innocent man and a Divine God on that cross?

Love for us. We the dirty bearded rotten ragamuffins that we are.  The great rescue plan to show God's great love for us was His joy to complete.

A perfect life for a dirty, dead one.   An unstained sacrifice became our sin that we might be in His presence again.

Our life begins with His Death.  His love on that cross cancelled sin and death. It is the gateway to the Spring that we desperately need in our life.

The blossom and the egg are like us. The bud and the shell are the gateway we pass through in faith.  Our hope is in something bigger than us.  That something is someONE who loved us in spite of ourselves so that we could experience SPRING now and eternally.

If we choose Faith in Jesus... if we place our  Hope in Jesus...if we choose to receive His Love ... we experience a resurrected life with Him.

Ponder these verses:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!  2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.  Isaiah 43: 18 - 19  NIV

"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.   Ezekiel 36: 25 - 26 NIV
