Spiritual Nutrition Challenge-- Who Are You Following?

What I learned in week 1:

Whether trying to get in shape mentally, physically, or spiritually, consistency is the key.

This word consistency stems from the word consist which means to stand firm, to exist together, to be compatible of one accord or in harmony with something.

Let's look at that in context of the physical challenge we have taken up.

To start exercising and eating right, you must decide to stick a stake in the ground and do something different. To stick a stake in the ground is to STAND FIRM on the exercise and nutrition regimen you have chosen. Then to DO IT is to work in harmony with those programs.

Spiritually and mentally we can do the same thing.

You can STAND FIRM on the rock of Salvation.  Know that your foundation, Jesus Christ, cannot and will not be moved.

To DO IT is to set our minds and spirits on abiding, resting, standing still, and not flinching in the knowledge of who Christ is and what He empowers you to do as a believer.

In the famous words of Sonny and Cher, He's Got You, Babe!  No one can be snatched from His hand who is in Christ.

In Colossians 1,Paul tells us that Jesus is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

See right there in that verse?  Jesus is before all things...He goes before all things, He has created all things and He holds all things together.

Guess where we are in that passage?  We are in the word "things."  We are the created and Jesus has gone before us to make a way for us.  In Him, we are held together.  We are in Him, as He is in the Father, and as the Father is in Him.  Whoa...talk about consistency!  That is the best harmony a person can have.

This journey is a not just a trip to the gym, library or church.  I see it as a pilgrimage.

When someone asks me where I am going with this, I feel my heart tell them, this refrain from the Golden Journey to Samarkand.

But who are ye in rags and rotten shoes,
You dirty-bearded, blocking up the way?
We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go
Always a little further: it may be
Beyond the last blue mountain barred with snow,
Across that angry or that glimmering sea,

For me, I am following my Master wherever He would lead me. With my eye on Him, He establishes the work of my hands and feet.

As a pilgrim passing through, I know who I am following, what I am standing on, why I am doing it, and how to work in harmony with my leader.

Do you?

Wise men are no longer kings of the orient following a wandering star; they are followers of the Risen Christ!

Spiritual Nutrition Challenge Week #2, Day 1

Journal Assignment:  Who Are You Following?

Exercise Assignments:

Spirit:  Do you have a relationship with Jesus?  If you do, connected are you to your Leader and know where He wants you to go?  Journal your response.

Mind:   Today, stick a stake in the ground and choose whom you will follow.
Click here to accept Jesus as your Foundational Truth.  Do it! Go wherever He leads you.

Body:  Walk and pray asking God for direction and guidance.

Prayer:    Lord, let us remember to be consistent. Let us always keep our eyes completely focused on you as our North Star.  The one by whom we always plot our journey.  Let us always remember that we are pilgrims passing through--learning and growing with every step we take.  For those who don't know you, Lord, I pray they will make you their cornerstone today.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
