Spiritual Nutrition Challenge--What Are You Afraid Of?

Week 7
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.”  (Psalm 23:4 NIV)

Paralyzed with fear, I lay in the dark crying and whining and carrying on.
I implored myself, “Robin get up, get to work. You can’t let one more day go by without working on it.  Get it out of your head and onto paper.”
"Not-Good-Enough", my own personal demon ran me, “You can’t do this. It’s not going to be good. You have waited too long. Any effort you make is useless.”  The lie ruled my actions.
The more I fought myself, the more immobile I was.  Time ticked by. The deadline drew closer. Zero progress made.
Lost, alone and unable to do it on my own, I prayed.
A wee bit of light peeked through the dark clouds in my head.
Verses surged up from the depths of my memory banks “…take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ.”“…With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”“…t…

Dear One: A letter from God to You

As I was lightening bug hunting with my son and daughter this week, Psalm 23 ran through my head. Although the Psalm is most notably read at funerals, I have always seen it as a love letter from God to all of humanity. As we dawdled down the darkened path looking for insects with fluorescent bottoms, I thought over and over about the picture of a good father. When I got home and cracked open the scripture, I personalized the Psalm as if God were talking directly to me. Here’s what it said to me:

Dear One,

I am your Father. I love you and want the best for you. Whatever I have to do to provide and protect you, I will do. Nothing can separate you from me. I will shelter you from harm; you will have everything that you need to grow. Sometimes the best thing for you is to rest, especially when you are hot, hungry and tired. When you feel completely wrung out, I make you sit beneath the shade, have a nutritious, well-balanced meal and give you a refreshing drink of thirst-quenching water…

Born Ones of God--A Message

Dear ones,

I have lavished my great love on you that you are called children of God.

My children, you are precious to me. You are inscribed on the palms of my hands.

The reason that the world rejects you , beloved, is that they rejected me.

Continue in my love for you. Know me as a child knows their father.

Dwell in the home that I have put you in for this season.

Cultivate faithfulness to Me and the purpose that I have given you in this season.  I will bless you with my love so that you bear the fruit of that love endlessly.

Remember...I love you.  Pour out my great love for you in the purpose that I have assigned you.

Others who are in darkness and in chains need to know My Great Love.

Take the Message of My Love to them.

(Psalm 37, Isaiah 43, Isaiah 49John 15, 1 John 3)
